Multimedia Sand Filters

Multimedia sand filters consist of density graded granule filter media. Multimedia sand filters are used to remove sediments, total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity parameters. Multimedia sand filters which have higher loading capacity than single layer systems, provide economy by reducing water consumption to a lesser extent. By using multimedia sand filters, it is possible to remove suspended solids at 10 microns precision with appropriate filtration speeds. The use of multimedia sand filters in turbid water and in special processes requiring precise filtration is quite common.

During the service period, the particles retained between the filter layers by filtration are discharged in the backwashing period, and the filter material is cleaned and refreshed.

Multimedia sand filters are widely used for industrial and domestic purposes. Its main uses are;

• Filtration of sediment containing suspended solids
• Clarification of surface waters (lake, river, pond etc.) by filtration
• Precise filtration before reverse osmosis system
